I have Microsoft Office Word, Excel, etc. I have tried restarting, opening Outlook in Safe mode it will not open , creating a new Outlook profile I can create a new profile but it still won't start. I was going to try to repair my Data file but when I tried to first copy it to my backup drive, I got the message "Error 0x The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I also had to Shut Down rather than Restart so I could stop Outlook from continuing to try to contact the Gmail server. Outlook was not showing up in Task Manager but apparently was still running in the background.

Hello IdahoJulie, I suggest to you check for windows updates then try to open outlook in safe mode again, if it still without opening I suggest to create a new windows profile with local admin permissions and check if open in safe mode then disable add-ins.
